Robert Hill in Sicily 1944

On 7 January 1945, Corporal Robert Hill was ordered, with other elements of the 551st Parachute Infantry, to attack and capture the town of Rochelinval. This was a key objective of the 551st PIB while attached to the 82nd Airborne Division in the Ardennes Forest of Belgium.

Corporal Hill was killed in action, but for his extraordinary heroism that day, he was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross.

Corporal Hill was later buried at the American Cemetery, Henri-Chapelle, Belgium.
