World War II Airborne Demonstration Team Foundation

Remember, Honor, Serve

LEGACY DONATION

Many of our supporters choose to remember the Foundation in their Will. Your wishes or those of a loved one, expressed through the medium of their will can make a real difference to us in our efforts to ensure that the story of the Airborne troops will remain alive for future generations. The funds raised through these Legacy Donations directly support our education services and will help us fulfill our Foundations overall mission and will endow the Foundation for generations to come.

Making a will.
Most of us wish to be sure that after death, money and property are distributed in accordance with our wishes. The best way to achieve this is to seek the advice of a lawyer and to leave clear legal instructions for the dispersal of your estate in the form of a Will. In the absence of a Will, the Law provided for the distribution of one’s estate in accordance with fixed rules. Such rules are not flexible and often produce a result that may not be appropriate in the circumstances, causing delay, expense and personal distress to surviving relatives.

Tax benefits
If one dies leaving sufficient net assets the tax may become payable on your estate. Bequests to a charitable foundation, such as WWII Airborne Demonstration Team Foundation, can be made without payment of such taxes. In such cases it is often possible not only to reduce your own tax liability. So you should seek the advice of a lawyer when considering such an option.

Can I change my mind?
Once you have made a Will it can be altered at any time, either by making a new one revoking the original or by recording the required alterations in a simple codicil.

What do I have to do?
The first thing you should do is to consult a lawyer. If, as we hope, you are considering making a bequest to the Foundation then there are options that you should consider:-

 Residuary bequest - this allows for what remains from your estate after all specific bequests to family, friends etc have been taken into account.

 Specific legacy – this allows you to bequest a specific sum of money, property or other specific item such as medal, equipment or documents for your estate.

Above all, before doing anything consult a lawyer so that you can ensure that your estate is handled precisely to your wishes.
