LTC Leo Filipowicz and his truck after being hit with a VBIED.  He sustained minor injuries with slight burns and scratched and also banged his knee up, possible ligament damage.  Otherwise, he and his crew all survived with minor injuries although about 10  civilians in the vicinity were killed. Keep your head down Leo!

Capt. Matt Anderson represented the ADT and attended the unveiling of the latest James Dietz
print "You've got your orders" depicting the First American Combat
Jump on November 8, 1942 by 2/509th PIR. The ceremony took place
today (friday) at Fort Polk, LA home of the present day 1/509th PIR.
The Battalion Commander LTC King commissioned the print

While down at the January 07 jump school of the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team, Don Burgett expressed the sentiment that he liked the A-2 jackets worn by some team members and wished he had one of his own.
Thanks to the efforts of several team members, a jacket was procured for Don and Major George Hicks did a splendid job of sewing-on a leather name tape as well as patches, including an ADT tab, and Airborne command SSI on the left shoulder, a 101st Screaming Eagle SSI on the right former combat unit shoulder, a WWII ADT pocket patch on the left chest and a bullion verison of the 506th para dice patch on the right chest.
I believe Bill Jordan made up the leather name tape.
Major Hicks mailed the finished product to me last week and on Tuesday, the 10th of April, 2007, I met Don for lunch and had the honor of presenting the jacket to him on behalf of the WWIIADT.
As you can see, a perfect fit, and I'm happy to report that Don was excited about receiving this item and well-pleased to get it.
He sends his thanks to all ADT members who were responsible for making this happen and he will wear it to the Lunch bunch next week, as well as on his tour to Normandy next month.
Don also has reservations to attend the July 07 jump school in Frederick, OK. Another busy year for our friend
Don Burgett.

Craig Singhaus Presents Clancy Lyall with a new helmet.

The helmet was a collaborative effort of several WWII ADT members.  Matt Anderson totally rebuilt the Westinghouse liner to airborne specs including all new webbing.  Mark Bando was the "technical adviser" with sizing of the stencils and NCO bar. I did the steel pot part. Mr. Lyall was quite happy with the helmet as you can see from the picture. As the cammo netting was an original WWII item, Clancy commented the it even smelled right.  The distinctive odor of the anti-fungal chemical on the netting was quite evident! It still stinks, just like 60 years ago! As you may know Clancy has four combat jumps but had never kept even one of his helmets. He was teasing me about trading a musette bag for my jump steel. Well, now he has his own. - Sing
